SOC Alumna Wins at the Golden Globes

Congratulations to SOC alumna Leah Latham and her team at Walt Disney Animation Studios for winning the Golden Globe Award for the Best Animated Film, Frozen.

“What a joy it is to wake up everyday and play in the same sandbox with such extraordinarily brilliant, genuine, and passionate people,” Leah says.  “We feel deeply connected to the work we do and stories we tell.  When our studio receives accolades, we know the honor is bestowed to us all.”

Frozen has also been nominated for two Oscars – Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song, Let It Go.  You can be sure we will be watching and cheering you on.  Great work, Leah and team!

Dean’s Discretionary Fund Earmarked for Student Travel

Sanjin Alisic wasn’t even sure he wanted to attend.

The 2007 SIGGRAPH International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Technologies was across the country in San Diego, Calif. — an expensive plane ticket for an experience Alisic wasn’t sure would be worth it.

Making a Career as a Freelancer

But he wanted more.

So two years ago he saved up some money, assembled a portfolio and started contacting potential clients to become … (hold your breath) … a freelancer.
