How did you find out about the job you have?

I was signed up for every career site I could think of, so I got the listing in my e-mail courtesy of careerbuilders.com.

How did you prepare for the interview?

I looked up a list of common interview questions and rehearsed them.

And the EMMY Goes to…

Dave Kaiser collected about half a dozen nominations in the past five years, but never seemed to take home the ever-coveted EMMY—until this year.

“I thought there was a chance I could win, but I didn’t necessarily expect it,” said Kaiser (BA, Video Production, 2003). “I was definitely surprised.”

Kaiser embarked upon his career in video production shortly after graduation, picking up freelance jobs around town whenever he could. He took a year off to volunteer with AmeriCorps but returned to the freelance work he loved.

“I been around nearly every post-production house in town,” Kaiser said.

Now five years into a career, his work is paying off.

Just Landed: Alfred Molinar ’06

SCAN highlights School of Communications alumni who recently landed jobs in their field. Alfredo F. Molinar (BA, Video Production, 2006) works as a director/senior graphic artist forKDBC 4 News in El Paso, Texas.

SCAN: How did you land your job?

Alfredo F. Molinar: Once I moved to El Paso, I landed a production assistant job at the local PBS station. One of my coworkers informed me of a graphic artist position at KDBC and once I applied, I got the job. Within six months, a director job opened up and I was promoted to director. Continue reading

Just Landed: Angela Cartnal ’03

SCAN: How did you land your job?

Angela Cartnal: I landed my job at Fuse once I finished working on another television series called “Dwell” that aired on the Fine Living Network. The “Dwell” series was coming to an end when I received the call from Fuse to come and start working for them. Continue reading

David Callahan: When I was in high school, some friend and I used to make silly films and I just never stopped.
